FCS Ambassadors
Committed to Oklahoma Families & Youth
History
Since 1991, when the Oklahoma Cooperative Extension Family and Consumer Sciences Ambassadors was created, the organization has awarded over 300 grants totaling over $100,000 for county, multi-county, and state programming. The grant program was expanded to include Oklahoma Home and Community Education in 1996. Margaret Edsel Fitch Fellowships established in 1998 and the Blackwell Legacy Award established in 2009 have awarded over $102,000. (Award numbers and amounts are as of FY21) .
Oklahoma Cooperative Extension Family and Consumer Sciences Ambassadors is committed to enhancing the economic and personal well-being of Oklahoma families and youth through research-based information. This commitment is achieved by:
- Providing support to family and youth education
- Becoming involved in issues and concerns that impact Oklahoma families
- Providing grants for professional study opportunities
- Supporting evaluation studies documenting the impact of family education programs
- Providing counsel to improve programs for Oklahoma families and youth
- Supporting the only organized program of private funding for Cooperative Extension Family and Consumer Sciences
We honor and appreciate our charter members. Their vision and leadership created the foundation to build Oklahoma Cooperative Extension Family and Consumer Sciences Ambassadors into who we are today, supporting research-based information and educational programming benefiting Oklahoma communities, families and youth.
