Oklahoma Home and Community Education is an organization committed to education about family and consumer issues, community service, and bringing friends together. OHCE members are adults of all ages and genders who are interested in continuing their education in family life skills. For more information on joining or starting an OHCE group in your area, contact the Oklahoma County Extension office.

    Meeting times and days are listed below. Location of meetings varies.

    • Scissor Tales Quilt Guild - 3rd Friday of the month  (12:00-4:00pm)
    • Bits & Bytes Technology Group - 4th Monday of the month  (1:30pm)
    • Genealogy Group - 3rd Wednesday of the month  (10:00am)
    • Flourish & Grow Horticulture Group - 3rd Tuesday of the month  (6:00pm)
    • New Beginnings Group (Health & Wellness/Community Service) - 2nd Monday of the month (10:00am)
    • Northwest Seekers Group – Bethany Area Community Service - 2nd Thursday of the month (10:00am)
    • Modern Homemakers – Edmond Area Community Service/Sewing - 2nd Thursday of the month (1:00pm)
    • Learn Create & Share Craft Group - Meeting Date TBA

    Monthly educational program meetings and make new friends that share your interests. OHCE, Oklahoma County Education meets every fourth Thursday at 9:30 a.m. for a one-hour Educational Lesson.

    Educational Issues

    • Resource Management
      Increase awareness of issues involved in finances directing families toward more proactive financial behavior as they plan for the future.  Promote action of families to establish daily habits to care for our environment through education and conservation.
    • Healthy Living
      Improve the quality of life and the state of health of Oklahoma County families by developing and presenting health, food, nutrition and safety programs.
    • Family Issues
      Help families unite and improve community life through education to strengthen development skills for present and future generations.
    • Cultural Enrichment
      Enrichment of our lives and the lives of those around us by being more involved in our culture and preserving our past.
    • Leadership Development
      Activities that develop and enhance the quality of leadership attributes, leadership abilities and leadership attitudes of individuals and the organization. State training is offered in the fall of odd years.

     State Project

    • Women's Health Education
      The mission is to develop a program that educates women on cardiovascular disease, discovery, care and available resources.   In the second year of the project, the emphasis is women's cardiovascular disease and stroke symptoms.
