Quicken is easy to use and learn. Quicken looks like a checkbook register and requires very little time to enter transactions. Once transactions are entered the information can be summarized into easy-to-read reports for management and tax purposes.

It only takes a short time to comprehend how to use Quicken. OSU Extension has created a couple of ways to help producers learn how to use Quicken. Thanks to a grant from the Southern Risk Management Education Center, OSU Extension has created an online learning course. This online course is a self paced learning module that explains how to obtain Quicken, the many sections of Quicken, and examples of how to enter transactions and create reports.

OSU Extension with the help of Nebraska Extension has created a Quicken manual. This manual is an in-depth manual covering the basics of Quicken. There are examples on how to create accounts, add and remove categories or tags, enter basic and split transactions, and how to create cash flow reports. There are examples of some of the different types of reports that are available. This manual also covers some of the more advanced topics such as creating asset lists and balance sheets, and tracking loans.
