Oklahoma 4-H Mission

The mission of the 4-H Youth Development Program is to provide Oklahoma youth, families, and communities with educational programs which will create environments for diverse audiences of youth and adults to reach their fullest potential. In support of this mission we will:

  • Provide community based experiential learning through clubs, school enrichment, special interest programs, and mass media.
  • Help youth develop skills that will benefit them throughout life.
  • Foster leadership and volunteerism for youth and adults.
  • Build internal and external partnerships for programming and resource development.
  • Strengthen families and communities.
  • Use research-based knowledge and the land grant university system and other sources.

Air Rifle Club

Certified Leader: Gary Miller

 

  • Age requirement is 9 and up
  • The program is free of charge and all equipment is provided on site
  • Parents MUST stay at the meeting
  • Learn proper gun handling and gun safety, to prepare for contest
  • Club meets on the 3rd Thursday of each month beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Archery Club

Certified Leader: Eugene Christian & Thomas Hefley

 

  • Age requirement is 9 and up
  • The program is free of charge and all equipment is provided on site
  • Parents MUST stay at the meeting

Club meets for practice on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month at the Expo Center from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

 

Arts and Crafts Club

Certified Leader: Laura Holman

Join us for a fun, hands on club, making all kinds of different crafts, paintings. 

 

Club meets on the 2nd Thursday of each month, beginning at 6:00 p.m.

Beef Club

At this time we do not have a club that meets on a regular basis.

 

Information can still be obtained through the OSU Extension Office. We have access to "Learning Labs" and information to help make you projects successful.

Dairy Goat Club

Leader: Karen Wilkins

Leader: Peggy Sanford

 

  • Dairy goat club is open to all 4-H members 9 years and up
  • You do not need to own a dairy goat to come to the meetings
  • Learn proper care, nutrition and handling for a successful dairy goat project

Club meets on the 3rd Monday of each month from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Murray County Expo Center.

 

Food Science Club

Certified Leaders: Pamela Saunders and Stephanie Bittner

 

  • Open to all 4H members, boys and girls
  • Learning your way around the kitchen and how to make your favorite foods

 

Club meets on the 4th Thursday of each month from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Murray County Expo Center.

Mechanics Club

Learn about tools, changing a tire, and basic of mechanics.

 

Club meets on the 2nd Tuesday of the month beginning at 6:00 p.m.

Performing Arts Club

Learn to play a musical instrument. If you already know how to play come and join the fun.

 

Club meets on the 2nd Tuesday of each month from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

 

Quilting Club

Certified Leader:  Sandra McKinley

 

  • Open to all 4H members (boys and girls)
  • Learn the basics of quilting, hand and machine sewing as we make small projects and a quilt.

Club meets on the 2nd Tuesday of each month beginning at 4:00 p.m.

Rabbit Club

Learn how to care and show in rabbit show as well as nutrition and housing for them. 

 

Club meets on the 1st Monday of each month, beginning at 6:00 p.m.

Sheep and Goat Club

Club meets the second Monday of each month at the Murray County Expo Center from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

 

Shotgun Club

This club will not be meeting in 2019 until we have a volunteer leader.

 

  • This is one of the shooting sports project clubs.
  • Learn gun safety, how to shoot accurately at targets and how to prepare for contests
  • Age requirement is 10 and up for shotgun.
  • The program is free of charge and all equipment is provided on site.
  • Regular Practices
  • Parents must stay at the meeting

 

Hunter's Safety card is required for competitions and/or should be obtained within one year of starting the program.  There are at least two free courses held in Murray County each year.

Swine Club

This club will not be meeting in 2019-2020 until we have a volunteer leader.

 

4-H Horse Club

Certified Leaders: Dona Johnson and Willard Johnson

 

  • Ages 9 and up
  • Open to every 4-H member whether you own a horse or not
  • Learn to care, train, and handle a horse safely. 
  • There are times we gather and ride to learn riding skills.

Club will meet the 2nd and 4th Sunday of each month, plus the dates listed below.

Man’s Best Friend.  Learn how to care for your pet’s health and grooming and how to teach them obedience.
