Oklahoma Home and Community Education
Oklahoma Home and Community Education, Inc. is a program of continuing education in all aspects of home and community life. The organization's ultimate mission is to educate its members to be well-informed and able to handle change in their homes and communities. Through its relationship with the Oklahoma Cooperative Extension Service, OHCE presents research-based information to its members.
Monthly educational lessons, leadership development and community service projects provide OHCE members an opportunity to apply this research-based information in their homes and communities.
Programs
Co-Parenting for Resilience
A program for parents experiencing separation and/or divorce and those who may be seeking custody, visitation, or paternity of minor children.
This class content includes information on child development and parenting techniques to help parents help their children adjust to their changing family lifestyle. The immediate and long-term effects of divorce on children, communicating with children and the co-parent, and shared parenting time are discussed. Participants will receive practical research-based information from handouts, videos, and discussion. Families are referred to literature, support, OSU Extension classes, and other sources of information for Co-Parenting for Resilience.
The cost of the Co-Parenting classes provided by the Marshall County Cooperative Extension Services is $30.00 (cash-exact change, checks, money orders, or cashier checks).

- Parents Resilience Materials Packet
- Certificate of Completion.

Parenting Classes
The Parenting Class consists of child development and parenting techniques to help parents help their children with challenges and solutions as they grow. We discuss parenting, ages, and stages of development, building the bond, non-violent discipline skill, avoiding accidents and problems, rules, choices and consequences and power of encouragement according to age. Participants receive practical research-based information from handouts, videos, panels and/or discussion.

Marshall County OSU Extension offers a variety of educational programs related to Family and Child Resilience, Finance and Job Readiness Education, Health and Hunger, and Safety and Environment Education. - MyPlate - Participants learn about basic nutrition and physical activity.
- Nutrition for Older Adults - Participants learn about nutrition in aging and overcoming factors which may affect nutrition status. Live well, Eat well, be Active with Diabetes
- Live well, Eat well, be Active with Diabetes (L.E.A.D.) - Participants learn how to live well, eat well, and be active with type 2 diabetes.
- Home Food Preservation - Learn how to safely preserve food at home. Sessions may include water bath canning, pressure canning, freezing, pickling, and even how canned foods are judged at local events.
- Food Safety - Learn how to safely handle and store foods to reduce the risk of food-borne illnesses.
- Stay Strong, Stay Healthy - Participants will learn exercises designed to help develop fitness, flexibility and balance that will enable them to live independently longer.
- Reality Check - Interactive simulation game that help young people learn the difficulty of making choices to stay within a budget.
