Family and Consumer Science educators provide Oklahomans with the skills, knowledge, and education needed to make their health, nutrition, family, leadership skills, and financial planning stronger.

 

Our mission is:  "To provide Oklahomans access to scientifically based education reflecting issues and human environmental concerns."

 

The Choctaw County Family and Consumer Sciences office offers a variety of diverse programs throughout the year to Choctaw county residents, focusing on issues in health, risky behavior, and jobs and employment.

Oklahoma Home & Community Education

Oklahoma Home and Community Education, Inc., is a program of continuing education in all aspects of home and community life. The organization's ultimate mission is to educate its members to be well-informed and able to handle change in their homes and communities.

 

Co-Parenting

A program for parents experiencing separation and/or divorce and those who may be seeking custody, visitation or paternity of minor children.

 

This class content includes information on child development and parenting techniques to help parents help their children adjust to their changing family lifestyle.  

 

The immediate and long term effects of divorce on children, communicating with children and the co-parent, and shared parenting time are discussed.  Participants will receive practical research based information from handouts, videos, and discussion.  Families are referred to literature, support, OSU Extension classes, and other sources of information for Co-Parenting for Resilience. 

 

The cost of the Co-Parenting classes provided by the Choctaw County Cooperative Extension Services is $30.00 (cash, checks, money orders, or cashier checks).  Participants will receive:  (1) Vicky Lansky's Divorce Book for Parents (2) Parents Resilience Materials Packet and (3) Certificate of Completion.
