• Barry Whitworth, OSU Extension veterinarian, discusses the recent news and status of highly pathogenic avian influenza in Oklahoma and elsewhere in the United States. Dr. Whitworth also shares what people can do to protect themselves and the poultry and dairy industry.
• Derrell Peel, OSU Extension livestock marketing specialist, says markets have not reacted much to highly pathogenic avian influenza. He says the biggest question is when herd rebuilding will begin.
• State climatologist Gary McManus says 2024 was a year for record books for weather, with the warmest year since the 1800s and the most tornados since the 1950s.
• Marley Beem, OSU Extension aquaculture specialist, discusses the issues ponds can have once cold weather arrives.
• Mark Johnson, OSU Extension beef cattle breeding specialist, explains the stages of calving and when to intervene if needed.
