A virus typically found in the Panhandle of the state, called Wheat Streak Mosaic, has far less effect on Breakthrough. This wheat variety has a proven resistance to wheat streak mosiac and Triticum mosiac. No other OSU cultivar carries Wsm1 from intermediate wheatgrass, or any known Wsm gene.
