Stream Hydrology Trailers

Front of Stream Trailer.Produced by the Department of Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering, Oklahoma State University

The OSU stream hydrology trailer is a fourth generation, mobile fluvial geomorphology teaching and demonstration model. The trailer is custom built from the axle up. Sheet metal components and frame are powder coated to greatly enhance resistance to corrosion. Color of the trailer is blue.

Water circulates across a bed of plastic grit. It is recycled using an internal reservoir tank and a battery powered pump, selected for the ability to handle grit that makes its way past filtration media. Direct electrical hook-up via extension cord can be used in the event the battery is depleted. Pumping system components are used which reduce the potential for freeze damage, provided that the pump is properly drained.

Rate of flow of water can be varied using three means: Ball valves at the pan inlet, Slope of the pan containing the grit by adjusting the jack located in the trailer tongue. In concert these three adjustments allow for excellent control over the rate of simulated streambank erosion.

Back of the Stream Trailer.Width of the axle is specially narrowed to allow passage through typical double-wide doors. The trailer is easily towed by a light weight pickup truck or similar vehicle equipped with a two inch ball hitch. It is equipped with brake, indicator and tail lights.

Custom signage for rear quarter panels and tailgate is provided using graphics of your choice.
