Fall Fruit Compote
This recipe is great to serve as a side dish with breakfast, with roast pork or as a sauce over angel food cake.
Ingredients
- 2 cups water
- 3/4 cup dried apricots
- 3/4 cup dried plum or prunes
- 1/2 cup dried apples
- 1/2 cup dried cranberries
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Up to 1/2 cup sugar
Directions
- Combine water, dried fruit, spices and salt in a large saucepan over medium- high heat. Bring to a simmer. Cover, reduce heat and simmer 15-20 minutes or until fruit is tender.
- Gently stir in sugar to taste and simmer, uncovered, about 10 minutes or until thickened. Serve warm, at room temperature or cold.
