Livestock, (cattle, hogs, sheep, goats and horses) and poultry are the largest agricultural industries in Oklahoma, worth over $3.7 billion in 2007. The most common beef production systems are stocker operations or cow-calf operations that rely on rangeland, grass/forage pastures, or wheat pastures to fee the cattle. Pork and poultry are generally produced in vertically integrated, confined production systems. Horses, goats and sheep are often raised on smaller acres of pastures.  Each has unique pest management challenges that must be met. OSU continues to work to develop and deliver IPM programs for livestock production systems in Oklahoma.
