Contrary to what many believe, insects are not bug-eyed monsters – some do not even have eyes. OSU Extension’s Insect Adventure is the only live petting zoo of its kind in the state. Thrill to holding a foot-long millipede, petting a tarantula or gazing into a living honeybee hive, all the while learning how insects play an important role in planet Earth’s biodiversity.
The Insect Adventure is adaptable to nearly any situation – indoors, outside, large events or small, lasting an hour or a day, with something for all age groups. It is science made fun with an array of engaging entomology presentations and activities. Book your opportunity to visit the Insect Adventure facility on OSU’s Stillwater campus or to schedule bringing OSU Extension’s live bug zoo to your school or event.
Meet Our Insects, and Their Plus One
This OSU Extension program features more than 25 species of living arthropods, as well as a knowledgeable, enthusiastic and entertaining professional entomologist to walk you through your arthropod exploration and handling.
The live bug petting zoo is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the first and third Saturdays of every month. The entry fee is $3 per person. No credit cards, please.
Don’t leave home. We bring the adventure to your school or event. Off-campus presentations cost $400, but it’s an enjoyable, educational experience that most find to be truly memorable.
