Safe Routes to Schools
We have supported several school districts, including Muskogee, Oktaha, Webbers Falls, and the Oklahoma School for the Blind, to enhance Safe Routes to School (SRTS). Our support has included assisting schools in establishing and adopting SRTS policies, providing technical assistance for infrastructure improvements, and organizing events like Walk, Bike & Roll to School Days. Additionally, we have helped implement environmental enhancements, such as new signage, crosswalk painting, and other traffic-calming measures, to ensure safer routes for students.
We have actively participated in Cane Quest, a unique event hosted by the Oklahoma School for the Blind that helps promote independent travel skills for students who are visually impaired or blind. This event provides an opportunity for students to practice and demonstrate their cane skills in a real-world setting, fostering confidence and mobility. Our involvement includes offering guidance throughout the event, and celebrating their achievements as they navigate various challenges and obstacles.
