What We Do

America's SBDC Oklahoma logoThe Center for Oklahoma Small Business Research and Analysis is responsible for providing the Oklahoma Small Business Development Center (OK SBDC) with research and analysis, helping prospective business owners make accurate business decisions. The center’s main function includes providing advisors with market analysis and financial comparison data for the industry sector and geographic region that a particular OK SBDC client is considering.

 

 

Data We Use

Esri Business Analyst:

  • POI Search allows users to identify business establishments belonging to a given NAICS code(s) or keyword.
  • Area Reports include information about a variety of topics, including traffic, demographics, restaurant or retail demand, etc.
  • POI Searches and Area Reports can be specified using a given geographic unit (e.g., “Woods County”) or a given search extent (e.g., “a 30-mile radius around 123 Sycamore Street”).

Bizminer:

  • Industry Financial Reports include benchmark comparisons and financial ratios covering cash flow solvency, profitability, efficiency, and debt-risk.
  • Industry Market Reports highlight competitors, market volume, market penetration, and productivity.
  • Most reports available at the state or local level (smaller, more specific NAICS industries only available nationally).

Vertical IQ:

  • Local Economic Profiles include information about county demographics, business dynamics (openings & closures), real estate, etc.
  • Industry Profiles include a variety of insights about a particular industry, including industry structure, financial information, recent trends, and a list of “call prep questions” for advisors to consider before meeting with a client.
