Federal and Oklahoma Policies & Laws

Oklahoma State University offers educational materials on Federal and Oklahoma policies and laws that affect agriculture and rural America, primarily farm bill programs. Educational materials developed by faculty at OSU are intended to be objective and do not replace the advice of the USDA representatives, crop insurance agents or legal council for your individual operation. There may be reference sites and other sites for which OSU is not responsible, but are provided to enhance information available to visitors.
United States agricultural policy typically follows a 5-year legislative cycle that produces a "farm bill" that governs programs related to farming, food, nutrition, rural communities and other aspects of land use. The most recent farm bill authorizes policies of extreme importance to Oklahoma farmers, ranchers, landowners and community leaders, including commodity programs and crop insurance, conservation practices on agricultural land, agricultural trade, farm credit, rural economic development, agricultural research and more. The coordinators of the website compose the Policy and Law team in the Department of Agricultural Economics at OSU.
