Agriculture Mechanics Exhibit

1. Articles exhibited must have been constructed by FFA members in the Agriculture Education school shop.
2. Entries may be individually or chapter constructed.
3. An article can be shown only once and must have been constructed during the previous school years.
4. All articles must be clean and in a presentable condition even though they may have been used during the year.
5. Pictures showing operations of the project may be displayed with the exhibit.
6. Each exhibit shall have a sign showing chapter, ownership, a detailed bill of materials with cost, and a suggested retail price. (These signs will be provided by the State Office).
7. Entries will be judged on the basis of workmanship, structure and design, practicability, safety, and materials used.
8. Exhibits in Class 7, “Reconditioned Machinery & Equipment”, must be factory manufactured equipment that has been reconditioned in the Ag Shop. (it is recommended 1-3 photographs of the project before start of restoration is included with the materials list)
9. Exhibits in Class 13 and 14, “Small Projects”, should be less that 2ft in length or less than 20lbs in weight.
10. Exhibits in Class 17, “Forged Agricultural Use Projects”, should be the direct work of the student submitting the entry.
11. Where an exhibit is entered in the wrong class the Superintendent will make the determination and transfer it to the proper class.
12. The judge will not award premiums or points for entries in any class that do not meet acceptable standards of quality.
13. All exhibits to be displayed in a safe manner. Absolutely no knives, or anything resembling a weapon, will be accepted.

• Skills (careful workmanship and number of skills) – 20 points

Structure and Design

• Strength and durability – 20 points
• Originality (mainly for addition of accessories to a standard or original design, if practical) - 5 points

Practicability

• Labor saving on the farm - 15 points
• Convenience and usefulness – 10 points

Material

Economic choice of material – 15 points

• Class 1. Trailers & Wagons 16ft and over
• Class 2. Trailers & Wagons under 16ft (16ft is the cargo area)
• Class 3. Smokers, Grills and Cookers with hitches
• Class 4. Truck bed, Racks and Pickup Accessories
• Class 5. Livestock Production Products (squeeze chute, divider, panels, clipping chutes, lamb and goat stands)
• Class 6. Farmstead & Crop Improvement (gates, angle blade, box blade, mail boxes)
  Class7. Reconditioned Machinery and Equipment
• Class 8. Shop Improvement (welding tables, saw horses, torch carts, anvils)
• Class 9. Hobby/Recreation (deer stand, clay target, thrower, weight benches)
• Class 10. Patio Cookers, Grills and Smokers
• Class 11. Outdoor Furniture (picnic tables, benches, swings, etc.)
• Class 12. Indoor Furniture (end tables, chairs, hall trees, bed frames, etc.)
• Class 13. Decorative Small Projects (paperweight, horseshoe cowboys, small metal art, piggybanks, etc.)
• 14. Functional Small Projects (lamp, hat rack, boot jack, towel rack, doorknockers, doorbells, etc.)
