About Me
I serve as the Texas County 4-H Educator. My responsibilities include presenting programs to 4-H youth and individuals through School Enrichment programs. Some examples include, Ag in the Classroom programs, day and overnight camps, and various workshops. These programs are to develop life skills for our youth.
Growing up on a ranch in southeast Colorado, my family raised breeding cattle, and I built on what I’d learned as a youth about cattle, breeding and genetics in college. Another area I am interested in is equine science. I have an associate of applied science in equine business management, and I have worked with horses all of my life. I have bachelor’s degrees in biology and animal science.
When I was young, I participated in 4-H for nine years, and always enjoyed our activities and visiting our 4-H agent. When I had the opportunity to apply for the educator position, I wanted to give young people the same experience that I had in 4-H. It’s important to me to show that there is more to 4-H than just project work; I want them to know the importance of raising the livestock, the skills they learn from their projects, making friends and memories. There is learning and having fun.
