Cattlemen's Association
The purpose of this association shall not be for profit, but shall be to promote the welfare of the cattle industry throughout Pottawatomie County, promote educational and scientific programs affecting the cattle industry through the County Extension Center and the Oklahoma State University Division of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources.
The Pottawatomie County Cattlemen’s Association Board met in September 2020. The annual Christmas Banquet will not be held in 2020. We hope to have a banquet event in 2021, when events can be held safely. Educational meetings are also on hold, for now. Watch for announcements on this site and check the Pottawatomie County OSU Facebook page for online programs.
An OCA event will be Nov 9th in Tecumseh at the Crossing Hearts Ranch. See details on OCA web site.
Master Cattlemen
Cost will be $150 per Participant (couples will count as one participant). A limit of 20 participants has been put into place to insure individual instruction will be possible.
To be certified as a “Master Cattleman”, producers must complete a minimum of 28 hours
of instruction from the Master Cattleman curriculum plus a final evaluation. The core
curriculum consists of 4 hours from each of the following areas:
- Business planning and management
- Marketing and risk management
- Nutrition and management
- Quality assurance and animal health
- Natural resources
- Genetics and reproduction
