Courtney Matlock
Family and Consumer Sciences/4-H Educator
About Me
Courtney Matlock serves as the Family and Consumer Sciences/4-H Educator for Oklahoma State University Extension in Pontotoc County. In this role, she works closely with local clientele and advisory groups to plan, implement and evaluate county programs that meet community needs. Courtney provides research-based information in the areas of family and consumer sciences, 4-H youth development and community development, and she also serves as an Oklahoma Home and Community Education (OHCE) advisor.
Courtney earned a Bachelor of Science degree in family and consumer sciences from East Central University in 2008. Her connection to OSU Extension began nearly 20 years ago when she interned with OSU Extension as a college student. That experience sparked a passion for sharing practical, research-based information with families and communities – work she is grateful to now do every day.
Originally from Fort Worth, Texas, Courtney now proudly calls Ada home. She appreciates the area’s rich history and strong sense of community, as well as the personal milestones her family has celebrated there, including graduating from college, getting married and raising their children close to extended family.
Outside of work, Courtney enjoys spending time with her husband and their three daughters. Family time – whether attending church, cooking together, walking at Wintersmith Park or playing pickleball – is what brings her the most joy. She also loves planning and serving meals for others, believing there is something meaningful about gathering people around a table. Their household includes two dogs, Wrigley the Goldendoodle and Lambeau the St. Bernard Doodle, along with two rabbits, Lucy and BunBun.
Courtney chose a career with OSU Extension because of a strong belief in its mission and a deep family connection. Her grandfather, Gerald Dawkins – an OSU graduate and former agriculture teacher – often encouraged others to contact their local Extension office for trusted guidance. Today, Courtney is honored to be part of the organization he respected so highly and is committed to supporting families and youth throughout Pontotoc County.
