About Me
I hold an associates general education degree from Connor's State College, a family relations and child development degree from Northeastern State University, a public horticulture degree from Tulsa Community College and a master's degree in family financial planning from Oklahoma State University. My Extension duties include family resiliency, health and nutrition and food preservation. I manage our county's Co-Parenting for Resilience program, as well as the Master Sewing Volunteer program and Caregiving Education program.
I was introduced to Home Demonstration (now OHCE) via club meetings that my grandmother attended at a very young age. My mother also became a seamstress by attending sewing classes at the extension office in Pittsburg County. I later became involved through 4-H in Kinta, OK at the age of 8. I participated in club meetings, share the fun, livestock shows, impressive dress and later became part of FFA and FHA (now FCCLA) in high school. Now as an adult, not just as an educator, I enjoy attending women in ag conferences, horticulture and ag programs as well as small business workshops and assist in teaching FCS related topics in other counties and states. My husband and I enjoy spending time with family and friends, the outdoors, traveling, fishing, gardening, cooking out or caring for our dogs, cats, angus cattle and quarter horses.
My personal mission is to help improve the lives of Oklahomans by providing them useful, researched-based information. I enjoy seeing communities better themselves through enriching and empowering individuals, both adults and youth. Our work provides the leadership and ownership of community engagement to improve the community in multiple areas. It is like planting seeds and watching them grow. I hold a bachelor’s degree in family relations and childhood development from Northeastern State University and a master’s degree in family financial planning from Oklahoma State University.
