About me

There were several things in my life that helped influence my career choice to be a family and consumer sciences (FCS) educator. I was an active 4-H member in my local and county club where I enjoyed working on many different FCS projects. My participation in family and consumer science education and the organization Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) began during my high school years, when I had a great teacher who inspired me to focus in the field, and also helped prepare me to be an effective FCS educator.

But it was my family life that ultimately piqued my interest in making FCS education my career choice. My grandmother was an Oklahoma Home and Community Education (OHCE) member and she was always learning new things from her fellow OHCE members and her FCS educator.

My sisters and I were involved with Extension at an early age through 4-H Youth Development. That experience, along with support and encouragement from my parents, allowed me to learn important life skills and led me to pursue an Extension career. I now want to pass those same skills on to my own children, as well as the 4-H youth and county residents I work with. To me, it has all now come full circle, because I am able to use the many important skills learned through 4-H to educate others.

One of my favorite things about my job is working with many different people each day on a variety of topics. I know that I am helping them and making a difference in their lives by providing them research-based, unbiased, accurate information which will ultimately make a positive difference in their lives. I enjoy helping others succeed by using the information provided by OSU Extension and Pawnee County OSU Extension.
