No Hay or Straw in the Barns, bedding only on shavings.

 

All livestock entries must be under the full control of the livestock exhibitor or will be dismissed from the show.

 

The Livestock Show is an open show. Any Marshall County resident may exhibit livestock. The superintendents will determine final classification as to breed and weight. All sick and suspect animals will be removed. Ribbons are awarded for each class, 1st - 10th, Breed Champion and Reserve Ribbons for each breed and Grand and Reserve Grand Rosettes for each species.

 

All first places will be judged for breed champions, 1st -$3, 2nd- $2, 3rd- $1.

 

Department A - Swine

Breeding swine will show by breeds: Berkshire, Chester White, Crossbred, Duroc, Hampshire, Landrace, Poland, Spots, Yorkshire and others. All swine exhibited must have a negative pseudo-rabies test before unloading and entering the Fair Barn. (All breeding swine must be registered or be accompanied by a notarized statement by the breeder.) All swine must be owned and under the personal care of exhibitor by July 1, 2020.

 

Classes:

  • A-1 Gilts farrowed March 11, 2021, and after
  • A-2 Gilts farrowed February 1 to March 10, 2021 
  • A-3 Yearling Gilts
  • A-4 Aged Sows

 

Boars will show by breeds: Berkshire, Chester White, Crossbred, Duroc, Hampshire, Landrace, Poland, Spots, Yorkshire and others.

  • A-5 Boars farrowed March 11, 2021, and after
  • A-6 Boars farrowed February 1 to March 10, 2021 
  • A-7 Yearling Boars
  • A-8 Aged Boars

 

Market Hogs will show by breeds: Berkshire, Chester White, Crossbred, Duroc, Hampshire, Landrace, Poland, Spots, Yorkshire and others.

 

Market Hogs must weigh 200-280 pounds and will be divided into weight classes within breeds by Swine Superintendent.

  • A-9 Market Hogs

 

Department D - Sheep

Ewes will show by breeds: Crossbred, Dorset, Hampshire, Shropshire, Southdown, Suffolk and others.

 

Breeding Sheep must be registered or accompanied by a notarized statement of age by the breeder.

 

All sheep must be owned and under the personal care of the exhibitor by September 1.

 

Classes:

  • B-1 Yearling Ewes born before Jan. 1, 2021 
  • B-2 Spring Ewe Lamb born Jan. 1 to Feb. 28, 2021
  • B-3 Spring Ewe Lamb born after March 1, 2021

 

Rams

  • B-4 Yearling Ram before Jan. 1, 2020
  • B-5 Spring Ram Lamb born Jan. 1 to Feb. 28, 2021
  • B-6 Spring Ram Lamb born after March 1, 2021

 

Market Lambs

B-7 Market Lambs must have a complete set of baby teeth with no evidence of permanent teeth. Market Lambs will show by breeds: Cross- bred, Dorset, Hampshire, Shropshire, Southdown, Suffolk and others.

 

Show divisions:

Prospects (under 90 pounds) and
Market Lambs (90 pounds and above); ani- mals will be weighed and divided into classes at the discretion of the Superintendent.
Prospect Lambs

  • B-8 Prospect Market Lambs (less than 120 pounds)
  • B-9 Market Lambs (120 pounds & over)

 

Department C - Goats

All goats must be owned and under the personal care of exhibitor by Sept. 1.

 

Doe Division: Does will be weighed and classes will be broke accordingly.

 

Wether Division: Wethers will be weighed and classes will be broke accordingly.

 

Department D - Cattle

Breeding beef will show by breeds as follows: Angus, Brangus, Chianina, Charolais, Gelbvieh, Hereford, Polled Hereford, Limousin, Maine-Anjou, Shorthorn, Simmental, Crossbred and others.

 

All breeding beef must be registered or be ac- companied by a notarized statement of age by the breeder.

 

All beef must be under continuous ownership by exhibitor by July 1.

  • D-1 Heifer Calves born after Sept. 1, 2020 
  • D-2 Senior Yearling Heifers born prior to Sept. 1, 2020
  • D-3 Aged Cows

 

Bulls will show by breed as follows: Angus, Brangus, Chianina, Charolais, Gelbvieh, Hereford, Polled Hereford, Limousin, Maine-Anjou, Shorthorn, Simmental, Crossbred and others.

  • D-4 Bull Calves born after Sept. 1, 2020 
  • D-5 Senior Yearling Heifers born after
  • Sept.1, 2020
  • D-6 Aged Bulls

 

Steers will show by breeds as follows: Angus, Brangus, Chianina, Charolais, Gelbvieh, Hereford, Polled Hereford, Limousin, Maine-Anjou, Shorthorn, Simmental, Crossbred and others.

  • D-7 Prospect Steers (under 900 pounds)
  • D-8 Market Steers (900 pounds and up)

 

Dairy

  • D-9 Heifer under 1 year of age
  • D-10 Heifer 1 to 2 years of age
  • D-11 Cows 2 years and over

 

Showmanship Contest: Showmanship will be divided into two age divisions: Junior (ages 9-13) and Senior (ages 14-19). Trophies will be awarded.

 

Department E - Poultry

Note: Poultry cannot be allowed in the barn until properly tested at check-in time — 4-7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 9, 2021.

 

All birds will be pullorum tested at the time of entry. All birds testing positive will be removed immediately.

 

Coops will be allotted as entries are received, but exhibitors should be prepared to furnish their own cages if all fair-owned cages become full.

 

Final classification as to breed shall be left up to the judge and superintendents. All sick or suspect fowl will be removed. The exhibitor is responsible for feeding and watering of exhibits.
