About Me
Before working in the Le Flore County Extension office, I was a family and consumer sciences high school teacher for 31 years. I enjoy working with elementary children and watching them soak up all the knowledge like little sponges. The awareness they gain in nutrition information warms my heart, and I truly believe teaching is my calling.
My work as a nutrition education assistant perfectly combines with my educational background. I received my bachelor’s degree in home economics education from Oklahoma State University and my master’s degree in library media from East Central University. In my role, I teach several programs including a 30-minute, seven-to-eight-week nutrition course in schools. I also oversee adult classes regarding nutrition and manage children’s summer programs that specialize in food experiences.
