Family and Consumer Science programs provide information for families in areas such as food, nutrition, health, money management, parenting, micro/home based business, leadership development, and consumer buying. The family is the focus of the Oklahoma Cooperative Extension Service. The OSU Extension also provides other helpful links such as parenting, child development, nutrition, food safety, and money management.
Today Oklahoma families live in a new era with increasingly complex issues and problems including:
- Increasing numbers of bankruptcies
- High numbers of teenage pregnancies
- Low Household per person Income
- Inadequate nutritional diets
- Child abuse and neglect
- Increasingly older population
