About Me
With 32 years of experience as the Extension educator in Ellis County, I enjoy teaching youth skills related to sewing garments, crafts and quilts that will be used throughout their lives. Because I believe it is important to explore and learn more about history and culture, I have organized six trips to Washington, D.C., for youth and families. My passion is covering Oklahoma with the development of Barn Quilt Trails and promoting tourism to showcase the beauty, history and quality of life in all areas of Oklahoma. Each year I conduct a jelly making workshop for youth, then we distribute the jelly to senior citizens while caroling during the holidays. Under Our Wings is a program in which youth construct quilts that are presented during school programs to our local county veterans. It is exciting to see each person, no matter their age, learn new skills that stimulate excitement in learning and growing as an individual. I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in vocational home economics from OSU and a Master of Science degree in elementary education from Northwestern Oklahoma State University.
