4-H and Youth Development
I serve in a dual role as agriculture/4-H educator for Ottawa and Delaware counties. A native of rural Garvin County, I grew up showing and judging livestock in 4-H and FFA. I attended Eastern Oklahoma State College on a livestock judging scholarship and later earned an undergraduate degree in agricultural science from Missouri State University.
My priorities for Ottawa and Delaware counties include increasing 4-H enrollment and launching programs in master gardening and junior master gardening. With my background in agriculture and rural life, I enjoy receiving feedback from the community to develop programming that best suits the interests and needs of residents. Prior to this role, I taught middle school for a couple of years, helping organize the school’s science fair and supporting students as they pursued new interests. It’s fulfilling for me to watch students work hard, strive for their best effort and reach a goal.
I have experience with youth development in both the swine and beef industries and am excited to return to an agricultural-based career where I can share my knowledge. I’d like to build on the 4-H programs that appeal to members in each county and increase our ag in the classroom presentations in local schools.
