4-H Rules
- In order to be eligible for awards at the Annual Achievement Program every 4-H member
must submit a County Report Form or State Record Book. (This is for any awards that
can be earned such as Electric Awards, Clothing, Food and Nutrition, and etc. (These
reports must be in the office on the designated date.) (This report is for one year
and begins on July 1 and ends June 30 of each physical year.)
- The Top Secretary Award will be presented to one senior and one junior. The secretary books will be judged
on neatness and completion, and must be in ink and in the secretary’s own hand writing.
Type of award determined annually.
- The Top 4-H Club Award will be presented to the Local 4-H Club with the most participation and highest point
score as determined by the participation form. This award will be a plaque.
- County Officers will be presented with County Officer Medals.
- 100 Percent Club Award is given to a club that has 100% participation of its members in at
least one 4-H activity during the year. The award will be determined annually. - State Record Books that are completed are eligible to receive an award. The winners
will be
the best two State Record Books submitted. Type of award determined annually. - Fashion Revue: See Fair Book. Garments can only be entered in 1 Fashion Revue and 1 County Fair,
and must be worn by exhibitor. Award for Fashion Revue Winners will be: Beginning,
Intermediate and Advanced classes will receive Overall Champion and Reserve Champion
of each. Type of award determined annually.
- Top First Year Awards will be determined by the point score on the Participation Form. Type of award determined
annually. This award can be received only once. Recipient must have completed the
4th Grade. (County Fair and County Junior Livestock Show scores are excluded from this
award.)
- Top Junior Awards - Two Trophies. This award is determined by the individuals who have the most points
earned by participation in local and county events. (County Fair and County Junior
Livestock Show scores are excluded from this award.)
- Fair Awards - Two Trophies. One Junior and One Senior. This award is earned by the individuals who have the most points with Fair entries.
(All Open Class exhibits will count.) This award can only be received once.
- Jr. Livestock Show Award - Two Plaques, one champion and reserve. This Award is earned
by the individuals with the most points earned by participation in the Coal County Junior
Livestock Show. The Recipient must show his or her animal under 4-H. This award can only be received once. - Top Senior Awards – Two Plaques. This award is for Senior 4-Her’s, 13 years by January 1
of the Award, through 12th Grade. Winners must have highest points for participation in County events. (County Fair and County Junior Livestock show scores are excluded from this award.) - Hall of Fame – Two Pictures. This is the highest 4-H Award in Coal County. The Award will be a
picture of the individual in a frame that is displayed in Extension Office for one
year. Applicants must apply for the award by submitting a County Score Sheet and County
Report Form; must have completed junior or senior year in high school to apply and
must have turned in a County Record Book.Award cannot be repeated. Must be highest
score on the County Score Sheet Submitted. Must apply on or before the Annual deadline
for County Report Forms.
- Qualifications for attending OUT OF STATE TRIPS: Must be 14 years of age before January 1, of the year attending and not have past
their nineteenth birthday or December 31, of year of high school graduating. Must
have submitted a County Report Form. Must file for the trip. Priority will be given
to the member with the highest score of those applying for the trip, on the 4-H Score
Sheet. Must fill out the proper State Forms. Must have money in on time. In case of
a tie, the 4-H’ers who has been enrolled in 4-H the most number of years will be the
winner. Must meet all guidelines of the state rules. For complete list of trips call
the Extension Office.
- Qualifications for attending 4-H Round-Up: Individuals attending Round-Up must be
13 years of age by January 1, of the year of attendance. Must fill out all forms and
sign Code of Conduct. Must have money in on time. While at Round-Up Delegates must
participate in workshops or Competitive events.
- Share The Fun: Junior – 4th and 5th grades. Intermediate – 6th and 7th grades and those 8th
graders who did not turn 13 before Jan. 1 of the year of the program. Senior – Must be 13
years of age before January 1, of year of program. Share the Fun will be judged by out of
county judges. Entry forms must be in the Extension Office by 4:00 p.m. at least three days
ahead of the event to allow for printing programs and scheduling acts. - Electric Poster Contest: The posters will be judged on conservation of energy. Guidelines
set by the Extension Educators and 4-H Organizational leaders Posters will be judged by out
of county Judges. Posters must be in the Extension Office by 4:00 p.m., three days ahead of
the contest. The Electric Program will be held in conjunction with Speeches and Illustrated
Speech Contest. - A bonafide 4-H member. See State Policy.
- Coal County 4-H members who participate in the County Junior Livestock Show must:
(A)
Be neatly groomed while exhibiting. (B) Show good sportsmanship throughout show and
sale. (C) Must have 4-H Emblem in plain sight. - After the First Year, or the 4th grade, the minimum requirement for holding a Local
4-H
Club Office will be: (A) Must have competed in at least one County Event. (B) Must have submitted a County Report Form. (C) If eligibility has not been met, eligibility will be determined at the leaders discretion. - Qualification for County 4-H Officers: (A) Must be thirteen years of age by January
1, of the year filed for and not reach nineteenth birthday or December 31, of year
of high school graduation during the term of office. (B) Must have been enrolled in
4-H at least one year prior to election. (C) Must have competed in at least 3 County
4-H events or 2 County 4-H events and 1 approved community service in the previous
year. (D) Must have submitted a County or State Report Form for the previous year
work at the time designated for turning in County Report Forms.
- In the event a County Officer is not functioning, it will be up to the Extension Educator
to ask them to resign and appoint a replacement. County 4-H Officers must preside
at Share-the-Fun Events and be present and assist in other County Events. Also County
4-H Officers should attend all 4-H Leaders Meetings.
- Top County Report Forms: County Report Forms will be judged on neatness and completion of information. There
will be a champion Junior and a champion Senior Award. Awards will be determined annually.
- Job Readiness: For guidelines see your Extension Office.
- Judging sheets for events can be picked up at the Extension Office following the event.
Copies of the judging sheets need to be in the office to complete records of winners
of events.
- Junior 4-H’ers will stay with their grade in school. If they enroll at age nine and
are in the 3rd grade, it will be permissible to repeat the First Year twice. A special
award will be given for these 4-H’ers if they are a contestant for the First Year
Award.
- The Coal County 4-H Year begins July 1, of each year and ends June 30. This is in
order to
coincide with County, State and National Report Forms. - Entry forms for County Events should be turned in three days prior to the events.
This applies to: Electric Program, Speech and Illustrated Speech, Fashion Revue, and
Share the Fun. This is in order to be better prepared for the event.
- Qualifications for attending “Four County Camp” on Lake Texoma. Must apply for Camp.
Must have money in on time. Teen Leaders should have attended the camp in previous
years. Must be enrolled in 4-H in Coal County. Must have competed in 3 county 4-H
events or 2 county 4-H events and 1 community service project.
- Round-Up Champions will receive a trophy for their winnings in participation in Round-Up
Competition Events. They must be a Champion or Reserve Champion to receive this trophy. - Seniors in high school eligible to apply for the Curtis Floyd Scholarship must submit
a County or State Report Forms. Must apply for this scholarship in writing. Must follow
deadline for County Report Forms. Must be a Senior in high school for the year reported.
- Point System. All points for County Events will be tallied by these points:
- Grand Champion–Overall - 6 Points
- Reserve Grand Champion-Overall - 5 Points
- Champion - 4 Points
- Reserve Champion - 3 Points
- First Place (Blue Ribbon) - 2 Points
- All Others - 1 Point
- Participation - 1 Point (this applies to some events where there are not ribbons given, such as the Carnival, and if entered in the Livestock Show and do not receive any placing)
- Showmanship Ribbons - 2 Points
- Grand Super Showman Trophy Winner - 4 Points
- County Workshops: Attending 1 Point; Assisting - 3 Points
- Planning and Holding – 6 Points
- Local Club Workshops: Attending 1 Point; Assisting - 2 Points
- Planning and Holding - 3 Points
- Local Club King and Queen - 1 Points
- County Workshop must notify the Extension Office of Workshop to be held two weeks prior to workshop in order that all County 4-H clubs can be advised. A schedule must be kept on the workshop, Title, Who held; Who assisted (if any; Where; and Who was present. Points allowed for only 1 workshop, but can hold more.
- Local Workshops must advise the Extension Office of Workshop held, who presided; who assisted; and
who attended. If the Extension Office is not advised of these workshops, points will
not count. (Point score is allowed for only 1 workshop. However, 4-H’ers can hold
as many workshops desirable.)
- To be eligible for out of county trips the 4-H’er must participate in 3 county events
or 2
county events and 1 community service project. (Events that are eligible: Lock-ins,
Roundup, 4-H camps, local competitive events, and approved community service projects
such as: nursing home, bell ringing, county beautification, etc.)
