  • Official Rules & Regulations
    1. The Board of Directors of the Choctaw County Junior Livestock Show reserves the right to interpret these Rules and Regulations and arbitrarily settle all questions under the management of the Board of Directors. The Executive Committee consists of the President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, FFA Advisors and OSU Extension Agent.
    2. The Board of Directors reserves the right to amend or add to these rules as they, in their judgement, deem advisable.
    3. All rule changes should be made before May 10 of the preceding year.  Any changes after that date must be passed by 75% of the members present at the meeting and at least thirteen (13) members must be present to have a quorum.  Board members missing three (3) consecutive meetings are subject to replacement by appointment officials.
    4. Any person who is found by the Board to be in violation of any rules will forfeit all privileges and premiums, and be subject to any penalty the Board of Directors deem advisable.
    5. No claim for injury to any person or property shall ever be presented or suit instituted or maintained by the Choctaw County Junior Livestock Show, its’ officers or agents, on behalf of any person, firm or corporation, or their agents, representatives, servants or employees, having a license or privilege to exhibit on the fairgrounds or to occupy the space thereon.
    6. 4-H and FFA members who qualify under the Oklahoma 4-H and FFA organizations’ rules and attend school in a Choctaw County school district, or are home schooled in Choctaw County, or attend a private school and resides in the designated geographic area for a Choctaw County School, are eligible to exhibit at the Choctaw County Junior Livestock Shows.  All exhibitors must be a student in good standing in their respective school, as per the OSSA rule listed in the OSSA Handbook concerning eligible students and competitive activities.   4-H members in at least the 3rd grade and who are eight (8) years of age before September 1st can exhibit in the show.
    7. If it is ascertained that any exhibitor has made or caused to make any false statement in regard to an animal or article, or if any individual shall attempt to interfere with the judges in the performance of their duty, the exhibitor will be excluded from all competition or exhibition on the grounds of the show; and any reward that the exhibitor may have received may be forfeited at the discretion of the Board of Directors.
    8. Ring Superintendents will be assigned for each division for the entire show.  Ring Superintendents will designate authorized personnel (Board Members) to work inside the show ring and line up show order and sale order. Any discussion by the Judge will be directed to the Ring Superintendent.
    9. The Board of Directors shall assign stalls or space.  Exhibitors will be expected to keep their space or stall in a clean condition at all times during the show and be eligible for the Herdsmanship Award
    10. No diseased animal shall, knowingly, be permitted to exhibit or occupy stalls in the show, and every precaution will be used to enforce this rule, but the management will not be responsible for any loss or damage that may be sustained by anyone through any violation of this rule.
    11. No animal can be taken from the grounds that have been entered without written release from the Superintendent of that division to the show, except for the purpose of exercising an animal in the immediate area (park, rodeo grounds or Agriplex parking lot).  No animal should be re-trailered after animal has been checked in.
    12. No more than a total of four steers, four breeding heifers, four wether sheep, four ewe sheep, four wether goats, four breeding doe goats, four market barrows, four breeding gilts and one pen of broilers may be registered per exhibitor. Each of the species must be entered for the Choctaw County Junior Livestock Show. Only two of the nominated can be shown at the registration show or Choctaw County Junior Livestock Show. Only one beef animal, one sheep, one goat, one swine, and one pen of broilers can be sold in the premium auction per exhibitor. (ref. rule 21)
    13. All animals are to be exhibited by the owner, EXCEPT when the exhibitor has more than one entry in class or has an acceptable reason for not showing.  In such exceptions, an animal may be shown by another club member from within the County with the approval of Ag Teachers and 4-H Agent.
    14. The decision of the officials will be final and no appeal will be considered except in case of written protest directed to the Board of Directors, accompanied by a $100 case protest fee.  The $100 protest fee will be refunded only if the Board of Directors acts in favor of the plaintiff.  All protests will be acted on by the Board of Directors.
    15. The management reserves the right to remove from the grounds, any exhibitor’s animal that may have been falsely entered or may be deemed unsuitable or objectionable by them without giving notice thereof. 
    16. Only Choctaw County Extension personnel, Ag Teachers, 4-H Leaders, parents, exhibitors and Choctaw County residents are allowed to groom animals on the premises.
    17. All animals will be removed from the grounds following the premium auction.
    18. Exhibitors will be required to present hand written thank you card and a current framed 8X10 picture made by the official Choctaw County Junior Livestock Show photographer to the buyer that contributes $100.00 or more on their animal at the premium sale. All pictures must be taken the night the animal is shown.
    19. A $20.00 nomination fee per animal or per pen of broilers will be paid at the time of registration.  This fee will be collected at registration and receipt written with a copy returned to the exhibitor.
    20. A $10.00 registration fee per Ag mechanics project will be paid at the time of entry at the Choctaw County Junior Livestock Show.
    21. The exhibitor must individually own all animals.   All animals must be at the exhibitor’s house unless approval by the Choctaw County Junior Livestock Board prior to registration and all projects requiring prior approval be recommended and supervised by the Ag teacher.  No animal will be approved to be kept at a Breeder/Seller’s facility.   The Choctaw County Junior Livestock Board reserves the right to make periodic checks of animals at any time to inspect or verify possession and condition of any livestock registered for the Choctaw County Junior Livestock Show.
    22. No animal shall be replaced after registration date for each respective species.
    23. Best County Bred is open to animals that were born and raised on a ranch in Choctaw County; or, the ranch of a breeder who resides in or raises cattle, sheep, goats or swine in a Choctaw County School District; or, a breeder who resides in Choctaw County and whose ranch, where his animals are raised, is in a County adjoining Choctaw County.  Selection of Best County Bred in each species will be determined by the highest placing in preliminary sale order.
    24. Showmanship will be judged on how the 4-H and FFA members present their own animals in the show ring and how the animal is groomed for presentation.  Any exhibitor that wishes to compete for showmanship may return to the ring for placing by the official Judge.  Showmanship divisions were changed to school grades to align with OYE rules.  Divisions will be Junior – 3rd – 6th grade; Intermediate – 7th – 9th; and Senior – 10th – 12th.
    25. No exhibitor shall be allowed to change the original color of any animal or to change the original color of any animal’s markings.
    26. Any livestock registered at the Choctaw County Fair is eligible for use in a livestock judging contest.
    27. All exhibitors must wear a white collared shirt tucked in with their respective club jacket or vest (4-H) during all shows in the show ring, Premium sale ring and all photographs taken by the official photographer.  No baggy pants or jeans with holes will be allowed.

    No paint products will be used in any species.

  • Beef
    1. All Market Steers and Breeding Heifers MUST be registered at the County Fair in September.
    2. All beef exhibits must have tag in ear for identification purposes and we will use USDA OK840 tag.
    3. All Breeding Heifers should be calf hood vaccinated.
    4. All Steers and Breeding Heifers will be shown in their respective divisions.
    5. Steers and Breeding Heifer classes will be shown by weight and divided not to exceed ten (10) head per class. 
    6. All Steers must weigh a minimum of 800 pounds with a ten (10) pound adjustment.
    7. All Steers and Breeding Heifers will be weighed during registration (County Fair) and at the Choctaw County Junior Livestock Show for the Rate of Gain competition.
    8. No rings shall be allowed in the nose of any steer or heifer. 
    9. Beef cattle must be weighed clean, free of mud and foreign debris with only a halter and lead rope.
    10. Steers will be allowed a maximum of two (2) weigh-ins.  This applies only to Steers that do not meet the minimum weights.  Breeding Heifers will be weighed once at the Registration Show and Choctaw County Junior Livestock Show.
    11. Any beef animal that cannot be controlled by the exhibitor will not be allowed to show.
    12. All beef animals will be shown using NO ADHESIVE PRODUCTS.  This show will be considered blow and show only.   Animals will be examined by an appointed Junior Livestock Board Member prior to entering the show ring.  Animals found to be in violation of this rule will not be allowed to show.

  • Meat Goats
    1. All Market Wethers and Breeding Does Goats must be weighed with tag number recorded when registered.
    2. All goats must have a Scrapies tag present to enter at the Registration Show or written verification in accordance with Federal Regulations.
    3. All Breeding Does and Market Wether Goats will be shown in their respective division.
    4. Classes will be broken by weight and divided into classes according to the number of entries.
    5. All Market Wether and Breeding Doe Goats will be shown using NO ADHESIVE PRODUCTS.
  • Market Wethers
    1. Wethers MUST be registered at the Registration Show in December.
    2. Wethers must be clipped with hair no longer than 1/2 inch above the hocks and knees of the wether.
    3. Wethers will be allowed one weigh-in
    4. Wethers may be shown with a collar, choke chain or lead.
  • Breeding Does
    1. Breeding Doe MUST be registered at the Choctaw County Fair in September.
    2. All doe kids must have their milk teeth at the time of weigh-in and registration.
    3. Breeding Does will be allowed one weigh-in and shall not exceed 160 pounds at the Choctaw County Junior Livestock Show.
    4. Breeding does may be shown with a collar, choke chain or lead with no bracing.

  • Sheep
    1. All Market Wether and Breeding Ewes MUST be registered at the Registration Show in December.
    2. All sheep must have Scrapies tag present to enter at the Registration Show or written verification in according with Federal Regulations.  County’s scanned tags may be used for identification purpose.
    3. All Breeding Ewes and Market Wether Sheep will be shown in their respective division.
    4. Classes will be broken by weight and divided into classes according to the number of entries.
    5. All Market Wether and Breeding Ewe sheep must be weighed with tag number recorded when registered at the Registration Show in December.
    6. All Market Wethers and Breeding Ewes must be totally slick sheared to within 1/4 inch of wool.  No wool shall be left above the hocks and knees of the lamb.
    7. Lambs will be allowed one weigh-in.

  • Swine
    1. All Market Barrows and Breeding Gilts must be owned and registered at the Registration Show in December.
    2. All Market Barrows and Breeding Gilts must have proof of Pseudorabies test or Breeder’s pseudo-free status verification in accordance with State requirements.
    3. All Market Barrows and Breeding Gilts will be shown in their respective division.
    4. All Swine must meet minimum weight of 200 lbs. with a ten (10) lb. adjustment at the Choctaw County Junior Livestock Show.
    5. Market Barrows and Breeding Gilts will be divided by weight not to exceed fifteen (15) head per class.
    6. Paint, powders, dye and white wash will not be permitted.  The use of OIL BASED PRODUCTS (such as baby oil, Revive, Swine Shine, etc.) IS PROHIBITED.  The use of water only will be allowed on the day of show on the premises.

  • Poultry
    1. Exhibitors will receive broiler chicks in January. Chicks will be picked up by an Ag Teacher and delivered to a central location.
    2. Each exhibitor is responsible for the care and maintenance of his/her broilers.
    3. Each exhibitor will exhibit only three broilers of their choosing from his/her pen of chickens.
    4. Broilers will arrive at the show on the morning of show and will be required to leave immediately after the show concludes.
    5. Broiler exhibitors will be exempt for General Rule #26 regarding show ring attire.  This exemption is for the Broiler show only and does not apply to the Premium Sale or other shows.

  • Ag Mechanics
    1. Exhibits must be built in each respective school’s Ag shop by FFA members.
    2. Grand Champion, Reserve Champion and Bronze Champion projects will be sold in the Premium Sale.
    3. Other projects will be sold in Silent Auction format to the highest bidder.  Bids will close at a specified time prior to last animal being sold during Premium Sale.
    4. Division classifications are as follows: Trailer, Farm or Ranch Equipment, Farm Structure, Feeders, Shop Equipment, Hunting and Wildlife, Recreation, Cookers/Smokers, Indoor and Outdoor Furniture, Horseshoe Art, Miscellaneous, etc.  CCJLB Ag Mechanics show representatives reserve the right to change (either by adding, subtracting, or renaming) divisions after all entries have been recorded based on the number and type of entries.

  • Premium Sale
    1. The official Judge will select the animals to be in the auction.  Selection of the number that will be sold will be the top animals of the show, regardless of how they are placed in their respective class.
    2. An exhibitor can sell only one beef animal, one swine, one sheep, one goat and one pen of broilers. 
    3. Animals will be selected among Market Steers, Breeding Heifers, Market Sheep, Breeding Ewes, Market Wether Goats, Breeding Doe Goats, Market Barrows, Breeding Gilts, and Broilers
    4. The official Judge will determine the sale order of the animals to be in the Premium Sale based on the quality of the animals exhibited regardless of sex.
    5. If an animal is placed for sale order by the official Judge, the animal must be sold through the Premium Sale.  The exhibitor will retain ownership of the animal and will receive premium based on the Premium Sale Tier System.  If an exhibitor is unable to present their sale order animal during the Premium Sale, prior approval from the Executive Committee must be obtained by Friday evening of the Choctaw County Junior Livestock Show.
    6. Number of animals in the Premium Sale shall be 20 or 1/3 of beef cattle, 30 or 1/3 of swine, 20 or 1/3 of sheep, 30 or 1/3 of goats, and 12 pens of broilers entered will be eligible for the Premium Sale that are entered and are eligible for show at the Choctaw County Junior Livestock Show.
    7. Reserve Grand Champions will receive no bid higher than the Grand Champion; and, no other animal in the Premium Sale will bring a higher bid than the Reserve Champion of each species.
    8. Animals shown in Choctaw County may participate in only one Choctaw Co. Jr. Livestock Premium Sale.
    9. A “Grand Champion” Banner shall be presented to Exhibitor of each Grand Champion animal and Grand Champion Buyer Banners will be determined at Premium Sale and ordered accordingly.
    10. All animals will be released from the premises following their respective shows.  However, all eligible Premium Sale animals must be in place by 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, Premium Sale Day.
    11. Grand Champion, Reserve Champion and Bronze Medallion Ag Mechanics projects may be sold in the Premium Sale.  The exhibitor may retain ownership of the project and receive the highest bid amount in the Premium Sale.  Other projects entered will be sold to the highest bidder after final bid starts with amount shown at close of Silent Auction. 
    12. All Ag Mechanics projects showing in the Choctaw County Junior Livestock Show must remain on the premises until the end of the Choctaw County Junior Livestock Show Premium Sale. 
    13. During the Premium Sale and for buyers’ pictures all exhibitors must wear a white collared shirt tucked in with their respective club jacket or vest (4-H).  No baggy pants or jeans with holes will be allowed.  No key chains, lanyards or cell phones should be visible on the exhibitor.
    14. Animals must be presented in the Premium Sale as they appeared in the Show Ring (no costumes, glitter, paint, etc.).
    15. All money will be paid to the four recognized school booster clubs (Boswell, Hugo, Ft. Towson and Soper) or the Choctaw County Junior Livestock Board for Premium Sale animals and Ag Mechanics projects sold during the Premium Sale.
