Fun in the Sun, Twenty Twenty One!

Your Canadian County Cooperative Extension Team has created plenty of fun programs and activities this summer for your children! Not all youth programs require a 4-H membership, and if you're looking for something fun and different to get the most out of your summer, check out these activities!

Summer 2021

  • Robotics Day Camp

    This camp is over. Call (405) 262-0155 to inquire about upcoming 4-H programs!

     

    Education Building

    Time: 9AM - 2PM

    Ages: 9-18

    Cost: $10

    Limited to the first 16 youth

     

    Get ready to embark on an adventure in Robotics!  For the morning session, the LEGO robotics program will inspire 4-H members to learn how to build basic robots that move using motor and sensors.  They will also be exposed to simple computer coding and learn teamwork and leadership skills.  After lunch, youth will learn more coding and programming skills using Sphero BOLT & RVR robots.  Designed to inspire curiosity, creativity, and invention through connected play and coding, Sphero BOLT and RVR provide the opportunity to express inventive ideas and experience the power of robotic customization through programming.

  • Garden Salsa Day Camp

    Mustang Community Center

    1201 North Mustang Road, Mustang

    Time: 9AM - 3PM

    Ages: 9-18

    Cost: $10

    Limited to the first 16 youth

    Youth will spend the morning session in the Mustang Community Center's Wildhorse Garden with our County Horticulturist, learning about proper care and growing of seasonal vegetables and what is needed for a salsa recipe.  After lunch, youth will gain basic food safety skills and learn how to take fresh local vegetables and make yummy salsa.  Students will also learn how to safely can salsa using a hot water bath and will get to take a jar home.

  • Photography Day Camp

    Express Clydesdale Barn

    12701 W. Wilshire Boulevard, Yukon

    Time: 9AM - 2PM

    Ages: 9-18

    Cost: $10

    Limited to the first 20 youth

    Participants will learn basic photography techniques, composition (elements and principles of art), lighting, and photographic storytelling skills.  They will have the opportunity to explore and capture photos within the following categories: people, animals, plant life, and scenery.  Youth will also have a clear understanding of how a successful photography County Fair entry can be accomplished.

  • 4-H Camp

    Canyon Camp

    Hinton, OK

    Ages: 8-13

    Cost: $175

    Limited to the first 20 (4-H membership required)

    Are you ready to have fun this summer? Do you like to be with old friends and make new ones? Then pack your bags and your best attitude and let’s go to 4-H Camp Tuesday, June 15 through Friday, June 18!

     

    Fun activities have been planned this year to insure a great time at Canyon Camp in Hinton, OK. Our teen counselors and staff  have planned educational and recreational workshops for the week. The campgrounds have a chlorinated pool (with lifeguard), putt-putt, basketball court, kick ball, monkey ball pit, 9-square court, archery, and hiking, and much more!

  • Health Rocks Day Camp

    Time: 10AM - 2PM

    Ages: 9-18

    Cost: $10

    Limited to the first 40 youth

    Participants will learn the importance of building life skills that lead to healthy lifestyle choices, reducing youth smoking and tobacco use.  Health Rocks engages youth and adults in partnerships to develop and implement community strategies to reduce smoking and other substance abuse.  Youth and adults will build positive enduring relationships to address at-risk behaviors of youth.

  • Kids Cooking 101

    Education Building

    220 N. Country Club Road, El Reno

    Time: 9AM - 2PM

    Ages: 7-12 (Basic Cooking)

    Cost: $20

    Limited to the first 20 youth

    This one day workshop will give youth the basic understanding of nutrition, the art of cooking and preparing their own food.  Lunch will be provided.

  • Kids in the Kitchen

    Education Building

    220 N. Country Club Road, El Reno

    Time: 9AM - 2PM

    Ages: 9-14 (Air Fryer and Pressure Cooker)

    Cost: $20

    Limited to the first 20

    This one day workshop will give youth the opportunity to learn how to prepare several recipes using an Air Fryer, a Pressure Cooker, and practice their knife/food safety skills. Lunch will be provided.

  • July 9 - Jr. Master Gardener Day Camp

    Mustang Community Center's Wildhorse Garden

    1201 North Mustang Road, Mustang

    Time: 9AM - 3PM

    Ages: 7-11

    Cost: $10

    Limited to the first 15 youth

    Want to play in the dirt?  Come spend the day at the Wildhorse Garden! Learning will be facilitated through hands-on activities. Adult volunteers will be present to help the kids. Lunch and snacks will be provided with registration.

For all camps, make payments payable to OSU Extension, P.O. Box 519, El Reno, OK 73036 prior to any posted deadline. Please make a note in the memo line of the check with the program name for which you are registering and the child's name to avoid confusion!
