About Me

As a nutrition education assistant for Bryan County, I enjoy my two favorite activities of working with children and sharing information about nutrition. Although I have 12 years of experience working in adult nutrition, I currently enjoy my area of focus on youth. I organize courses through the Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) and teach second, third and fifth graders at Bryan County Schools and Durant Elementary School about the importance of healthy foods.

 

We provide snacks to serve students when they participate in courses offered through our nutrition curriculum. We cook with children, demonstrate food lessons, discuss food preparation and explain the basics of food and handwashing safety. During the summer and holidays, I work with our county family and consumer sciences educator to prepare pizza, breads and other easy-to-cook meals for members of the community.
