2025 Oklahoma Pecan Management Course Enrollment
Thursday, January 9, 2025
Enrollment for the 2025 Oklahoma Pecan Management Course is now open! Enroll early, as the class fills up quickly.
The fee for enrollment is $250 per person. The course is limited to 35 participants, and the deadline for enrollment is February 14. Be sure to sign up early to reserve your seat!
The first meeting will be on February 25. Other meeting dates are as follows: April 1, May 6, July 1, August 5, September 9, and October 14. The class will meet one Tuesday afternoon each month from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Cimarron Valley Research Station near Perkins.
Please note that we will not meet in June, but we encourage participants to attend the Oklahoma Pecan Growers Association meeting, which will be held at the Sequoyah State Lodge near Hulbert from June 5-7, 2025.
The May class will start earlier, at 10 a.m., to allow more time for grafting practice in the field. A box lunch will be provided on that day.
In this course, we will cover management needs that correspond to tree growth each month. The class emphasizes classroom presentations, along with orchard time and hands-on activities. Seeing the trees progress from dormancy to harvest offers a unique learning opportunity.
Topics include establishment, site selection, soils & water, pest management, wildlife control, native grove improvement, irrigation, grafting, and more. Find the 2025 dates and additional information on the 2025 Course Lectures page. For those with private pesticide applicator licenses, CEUs will be offered for applicable sessions.
