Chisholm Elementary news team to appear on SUNUP
Thursday, March 23, 2023
Fifth-grade students from Chisholm Elementary watch Lyndall Stout, the host of SUNUP, interview their teacher, Sara Dow.
A group of fifth-grade students from Chisholm Elementary in Enid will be featured this weekend on SUNUP, the agriculture television show produced by Oklahoma State University Extension and Ag Research.
Chisholm students produce a regular newscast about events and activities around the school. Chisholm News Crew is an extracurricular activity led by Sara Dow, the school’s STEAM teacher. Several 4-H members from Garfield County participate in CNC. “The skills like teamwork and public speaking that these students are learning at school and in 4-H are something that everyone needs,” said Jessica Nickels, Garfield County 4-H educator. “Those are skills that will help those kids as they become adults to be successful in life.”
The SUNUP team recently had an opportunity to meet Chisholm’s aspiring TV reporters, anchors, videographers and technicians and share some professional broadcasting tips. Watch the segment Saturday, March 25 at 7:30 a.m. and Sunday, March 26 at 6 a.m. on OETA. It also will appear on the SUNUP YouTube channel following the broadcast.
