  • Viewers get to experience yearling shipping day at the Osage Nation Ranch, a 43,000-acre operation in the heart of Osage County in Oklahoma.
    • SUNUP host Lyndall Stout interviews Katie Yates Free, Osage Nation asset manager and Rick Clovis, OSU Extension director and agriculture educator for Osage and Pawnee Counties.
    • Dave Lalman, OSU Extension beef cattle specialist, talks with Austin Holloway, Osage Nation ranch manager, about the yearling shipping process and day-to-day ranch operations.
  • In the Mesonet Weather Report, state climatologist Gary McManus says the extreme heat plus the extreme dry conditions equal an intensifying flash drought. He also says topsoil and subsoil moisture are rapidly changing.
  • Derrell Peel, OSU Extension livestock marketing specialist, tells us that cattle markets are struggling to recover during the extreme heat and a reemerging drought.
  • In Cow-Calf Corner, Mark Johnson, OSU Extension beef cattle breeding specialist, analyzes new consumer survey data about beef purchasing and consumption habits amid continued record prices.
