New Grain Marketing Specialist Brings USDA Background to OSU Extension
Monday, December 8, 2025
Oklahoma State University Extension welcomed Todd Hubbs as the new crop marketing specialist in October, replacing Kim Anderson, who retired in 2024.
Hubbs brings expansive knowledge of commodity markets and crop outlooks to Stillwater, where he will split time between research and Extension outreach and education.
“I do a lot of forecasting,” Hubbs said. “I like to be right about where the markets are going. It doesn’t always happen, of course. I spend a lot of time in crop markets, crop price analysis and research. I have a lot of knowledge on biofuel markets and policy because I’ve worked on that for 20 years.”
Hubbs completed a Ph.D. in agricultural economics from Purdue University. He has spent time at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls and was a commodity outlook specialist at the University of Illinois prior to joining OSU.
Hubbs also brings experience from the United States Department of Agriculture, having worked at the Economic Research Service as an outlook economist. He served on committees for the World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates for wheat, feed grains and oilseeds. He spent six years at the USDA across two different stints.
“There are different ways of doing commodity market analysis,” Hubbs said. “I’m a fundamental analyst, which means balance sheets. Supply and demand. How much are we making? Who’s taking it? Who’s using it? That is what I focus on.”
Those are skills Hubbs is excited to bring with him to OSU. Hubbs will also regularly appear on SUNUP.
“I enjoy analyzing, researching and communicating developments in commodity markets,” Hubbs said. “I get excited when I’m right.”
