Oklahoma State University’s Robert M. Kerr Food and Agricultural Products Center reported a highly active third quarter of 2025, continuing its mission to support Oklahoma’s food and agriculture industry through technical assistance, applied research and educational outreach.
Throughout the quarter, FAPC worked with producers, processors and entrepreneurs across the state, offering guidance on product development, food safety, engineering, labeling, regulatory pathways and facility workflow. The center supported businesses at every stage of growth — helping new ventures to navigate early decisions while assisting established companies with process improvements and technical challenges.
“Activity across the center remained strong this quarter, and it reflects our commitment to being accessible and responsive to Oklahoma’s food and agricultural community,” said Rodney Holcomb, FAPC assistant director. “Whether someone is developing a new idea or improving an existing operation, we are ready to help.”
FAPC also delivered workshops and training focused on food safety, labeling, regulatory compliance and production practices. Faculty provided academic instruction and hands-on learning opportunities across multiple OSU departments, further strengthening the state’s food and agriculture workforce. Meanwhile, research teams advanced projects in food safety, engineering, value-added processing, economic analysis and sensory science — generating practical knowledge that helps processors innovate, improve safety practices and explore new market opportunities.
The center continued deep engagement with community partners and statewide stakeholders, welcoming visitors from agricultural organizations, state agencies, tribal nations, youth groups and international delegations. This outreach reinforced FAPC’s role as a statewide hub for collaboration and industry education.
As part of its ongoing engagement efforts, FAPC convened its Industry Advisory Committee on Nov. 6 at the Oklahoma Regional Food Bank. The meeting brought together leaders from Oklahoma’s food sector and OSU Agriculture. Committee members received updates on FAPC’s ongoing modernization efforts, including major facility enhancements funded by the Oklahoma Legislature, and new initiatives designed to strengthen value-added agriculture and food manufacturing across the state. Discussions highlighted workforce development, expanded technical services and strengthened partnerships that will better support processors, entrepreneurs and students. The meeting underscored FAPC’s continued commitment to innovation and its growing role in supporting Oklahoma’s food systems and statewide economic development.
Holcomb noted that as demand for value-added food processing support continues to grow, FAPC remains well-positioned to help Oklahoma businesses strengthen and scale their operations.
