OSU Department of Agricultural Economics sets agenda for 2025 Rural Economic Outlook Conference

The Oklahoma State University Department of Agricultural Economics will host its annual Rural Economic Outlook Conference Oct. 8 in Stillwater at the ConocoPhillips Alumni Center on OSU’s campus.

Who: Members of the agricultural community and those interested in local, state and national agriculture markets.

What: A one-day conference connecting sectors of the agricultural industry, providing an accurate preview of market activity and trends for the upcoming year. The event will feature informational sessions and presentations from OSU Ferguson College of Agriculture faculty and OSU Extension specialists. The agenda includes:

  • AI in Agriculture — Heather Hampton Knodle, FCC Precision Ag Task Force member and president of Knodle Ltd. Farms
  • AI/Technology Panel
    • Daniel Koeisch, general manager of Farmers Cooperative Association (Tonkawa), with Haven Trunzo, an agricultural economics master’s student
    • Brian Arnall, plant and soil sciences professor and Extension specialist for precision nutrient management
  • Livestock Market Outlook with Derrell Peel, OSU agricultural economics professor and Extension specialist for livestock marketing, with James Mitchell, assistant professor, University of Arkansas
  • Ag Finance Topics with Rodney Jones, OSU agricultural economics professor and Extension specialist for ag finance and management
  • Grain Markets Update with Todd Hubbs, OSU agricultural economics assistant professor
