Master Wellness Volunteer Training
The Master Wellness Volunteer training program is an engaging series of five classes that provides volunteers with 30 hours of training in health and wellness education.
- What is Master Wellness Volunteer?
The object of this program is to train individuals who are interested in health and wellness with current research-based information. Volunteers assist the Family and Consumer Sciences program at the Oklahoma County OSU Extension Center. The program is designed for individuals with at least a high school degree or equivalent, with a true interest in health and wellness, and would enjoy volunteering and sharing research-based information with others.
The training focuses on nutrition, dietary guidelines, food safety, healthy lifestyle choices, physical activity and additional wellness subjects. Volunteers also have the opportunity to specialize in specific interest areas such as in Tai Chi, Yoga for Kids, Food Preservation, and other wellness related topics.
- What is the time commitment required?
This training provides 30 hours of research-based education in which individuals receive a certification and then become a volunteer-intern. In return, we ask the volunteer-interns to give back 30 hours within their first year of training.
If after first year the volunteer-intern obtains their hours, they will graduate and become a Master Wellness Volunteer.
To maintain a certification, 10 volunteer hours and 10 continuing education hours each will be required of the volunteer.
- When are the training dates?
Trainings are on an annual basis.
2020 dates are:
March 3, 10, 17, 24, and 31st, 2020
- How much does training cost?
