About Me

I work to increase people’s access to healthier foods and safe and accessible places for physical activity in Muskogee County. I do this through proven public health strategies that target eating behavior, obesity and control or prevention of type 2 diabetes, heart disease and stroke. Specifics include applying healthier nutrition standards to food and beverages available in community venues, supporting local food systems by connecting healthy food growers with retailers, increasing access to safe places for physical activity and connecting activity-friendly routes with everyday destinations.

I grew up on a commercial cattle ranch an hour west of Stillwater, which instilled in me a passion for serving rural communities and a love for Oklahoma State University. I earned my bachelor’s degree in human development and family sciences with an emphasis on social work and my master’s degree in public health, both from OSU. I am currently working toward a doctoral degree in health administration through Capella University.
